Aitor Comellas aka Aitor Hertz is a 20 year old from Spain who has arguably one of the most recognizable sounds in future house. Already attributed with massive support from the likes of Henri PFR, Don Diablo, Jay Eskar, Kohen, Castion, Mo Falk, and Two Friends, Aitor is just getting started with his musical journey.
Aitor’s story isn’t dissimilar to most producers. He found that electronic music was a part of him, an alternative way to express himself. So he dove into the production of different music styles that were banging at the time: Dubstep, Big Room music, Progressive House and similar subgenres. Fast forward a few years he discovered some branches of house music that were totally unexplored by him and most of the people at the moment. As soon as he saw how complex these subgenres were, he fell in love with them. Mainly thanks to the freedom that these styles give you to create new things as there are so many sound design possibilities.
We had the opportunity to sit down with Aitor and talk music and it was really awesome to hear how genuine he is!
How long have you been producing music?
I started when I was 12 or about… So, for 8 years.
Who or what are some of your inspirations for producing music?
Whatever I listen is an inspiration for me, not just EDM. I love Rock music, Metal, even Reggae… Everything is an inspiration.
What is your favorite release on your discography? Why?
I would say “Had To Leave”. Even that is very different from what I’m doing now. It was the first track that got very popular and really liked by people, many artists asked me for a copy to play that track around… It’s a nice one!
How would you describe your sound?
Sometimes happy, sometimes aggressive, but always clean.
What do you think producers can get out of this new sample pack?
I think producers will get really inspired by these sounds, these are very usefull in different genres, styles. It doesn’t matter what you do, for example: Whenever you need a nice and tight acoustic snare, you’re gonna find it in this pack
What advice would you give to new producers trying to develop their own sound?
That’s the simplest question. Remake tracks you love. Listen music propperly. Try to understand how people managed to get a certain sound, and by the same way you will find your own sound. But most important… Don’t get overthink about it.
